Steak 'n Shake

I absolutely love Steak 'n Shake. It is one of my all time favorite places to eat. So I decided I wanted to try the drive thru. Never again. I wondered how long of a wait it was going to be since it was fresh and that was a problem. The problem was that my fries were cold along with my sandwich, which was more like a condiment sandwich with how much mustard and mayo was thrown on there. And my shake was fresh. Now I would think that since everyone knows their shakes take a little bit to make you would start the food AFTER you had start your shake so my food was hot and my shake was fresh.

we have never had such a bad made sandwich we got the fresco melts which usually come cut in half they were not cut. also the sandwich had so much sauce on it you couldn't even taste the meat.

Went in for milkshakes. Ordered and it took 15 minutes to get the milkshake. Started eating and it was made wrong. Let our waitress know and she very rudely told it us it would be at least 10 more minutes for another. Not the first problem we've had with this specific store. Probably won't be back anytime soon.

Worst service (wait was 20 min + to be seated though there WAS open seats and booths, it was actually pretty empty compared to usual, then another 15 + minute wait before they even came to get a drink order etc, they didn't offer the kids "cruisers" ,crayons , hats or anything and failed to give us silverware/napkins, straws, etc , wait, order was wrong, didn't add shakes which were ordered when order was FIRST PLACED, got my order wrong not once but 3x, I finally just "accepted" it, then even AFTER giving us a chili/spaghetti- STILL had not given us flat ware -I had to ask when she was walking away to another table. The people that came in AFTER us were served and had finished eaten as they were bringing our table our food. The discussion amongst the waitresses was a party that had called in a reservation- (I have been a waitress at another restraunt well in my past- & all customers are to be treated with the best service!) I can personally understand sometimes things are absolutely hard and busy but that just was not the case today. I talked with the manager and the only reasoning was it was high school kids that could care less and they will definitely undergo better training, which is wonderful- BUT THAT DID NOT HELP ME TODAY! She did give me the 3 .99 ice cream sandwhiches, (but it still wasn't the shakes my kids wanted, & I had to wait an ADDITIONAL- 15 MINUTES, for my shake AFTER I paid. We have avoided the service had gone down hill but I wanted a chili spaghetti today and wanted to try it again, and it was the absolute worst! We MAY try again but it will be much MUCH LATER on. (& if service is still no better, we will be done with that particular Steak and Shake....)

They were extremely understaffed for a holiday (4th of July). We were the the 2nd small party (3 of us) waiting to order at the counter, and was told it would be a 30-35 minute wait for food to-go. When our food was finally ready, the burger was extremely overloaded with mustard, and not anywhere near as good at usual. The milkshakes and fries were okay. We witnessed another dine-in customer waiting for 30 minutes before the staff realized his food was sitting in the window for the past 10 minutes, and had to make him fresh food. Meanwhile his party had already finished eating, so he told them to make his food to-go, and they'd just leave. The service is almost always slow, but that particular trip was ridiculous. They weren't swamped, but severely understaffed for a holiday and Saturday night.
