I understand it's a busy place but I felt like my server was rushing me. They barely made eye contact and had one foot ready to rush off when they were speaking to me. There was no personality and it was uncomfortable like the server was inconvenienced by me.

Shari's is one of our regular restaurants. We know the food will be tasty, fresh and affordable. The service is always very friendly and inviting. Even if there is a slight problem they make the experience enjoyable. We love it.

Every time I visit Shari's (Castro Valley, CA) I feel like these are not enough serve staff, and those servers present really scramble to take orders, serve and clean up. Several times I stood up to get my own drink refill. It's just understaffed.

The same problem we've experienced as before. Someone is not ordering enough white wine. We've complained and felt the problem was addressed only to have it resurface again. Our server was pleasant and could not be more apologetic. I asked to talk to the manager, she too felt bad that someone fell short on responsibility. We got up to go elsewhere and ended up drinking water. Wine doesn't go bad. WHY can't someone order enough wine to last the week? The manager said they've been going thru alot lately. Wake up management, if you're experiencing a shortage, order more, else loose 2 very good customers!

The lady on the phone taking the to go order was very rude. She wasn't answering my questions, was impatient and hostile.

I saw your ad re: cafe club & told the sales clerk I'm interested in joining & she told me I can't since I did not dine in. Since I bought 4 pies, I asked her of the free slice of pie, the reward points & the $5 reward and again I was told I am not entitled since I did not dine in. This clerk is not friendly at all & look very serious and does not smile at all & seems like she has an attitude prob. So I went back to the front desk & talked to one of the supervisors, I think, I forgot to get her name & my complaint was resolved except for the $5. She said that will need to reverse transaction & reenter & I did not have time to wait for that.

We are "regulars" and I typically order the Cinamonsation platter with the stuffed hash browns so I am familiar with how it should be. Today we invited our daughter and so in law so there were 4 of us and the restaurant was busy but not slammed. When we finally were served our items did not come out together - at least10 minutes apart. The first two plates - our kids- were cold. When Our plates cme out the only "hot" one was my husbands philly rib dip. My cin plattter was literally luke warm, and wrong: scrambled eggs instead of over easy and regular hash browns instead of stuffed. I told our waiter Tony and asked that they redo the platter completely - as it was cold. I specifically told him - do NOT reheat what was on the platter. What I got back was basically the same hash browns that had been thrown on top of a sprinkling of cheese and maybe, ( I stress maybe) a smearing of sour cream -onto the grill and not "stuffed" as described. The cook recycled the hash browns. The sausages were now...cold. And the over easy eggs were well done.Since I am no stranger to this menu item I can honestly say that the cinnamon french toast was below parr.

This restaurant is mediocre at best, but its the only place open late in Castro Valley.
