First time ever having a massage. Did not know what specifically to expect or ask for. Therapist offered soft, medium and firm pressure and I said firm. Probably should have started out with medium, as it was VERY firm, which was great in some areas, but painful in others. Not having done it before, I thought maybe that was normal, if not good? Thinking maybe my stiffness, tenseness, or knotted muscles might be the cause and the discomfort was a sign of correcting the issue? Pretty sore in areas the next day, so mixed feelings about the results overall. Told by a friend who has used the same Company (at a different location), that it should have been TOTALLY relaxing and comfortable, (as she always experienced during her visits), I can only wonder if an easier touch would have worked out better for me. Again, my fault for asking for firm, but maybe the Therapist could have suggested a lighter beginning, knowing it was my first time? Ultimately, I would probably try again one day, just in a different location.

Only that I couldn’t book a longer appointment ! Waited to late to call - which was my fault!

The waiting area isn’t very relaxing. Doesn’t make you feel like Your about to get a massage. Having to get quickly undressed in the room to get ready for the massage and than quickly dressed to get out of the room was not relaxing at all. Defeated the purpose of the visit.

My only issue with Hand & Stone is the variability of therapist quality. Thankfully i found Darcy who is OUTSTANDING. The other I had prior to her almost made me cancel my monthly package and find another place. She was the absolute worst. Either stopped for minutes on end or rubbed in a circle for 10 minutes in the exact same spot. At one point, I actually looked up to see if she was still in the room. Darcy, however, is the best. Now, if you can only keep her from leaving in what seems to be a very short lived career for the good ones at Hand & Stone.

The lady who booked my appointment (not the receptionist at the time) sarcastically laughed when I told her that my husband enrolled me in the "monthly club". I had no idea what it was actually called. As far as the massage, it was good, but I was not blown away. The first massage that I had at this facility was excellent, so I guess I had the bar set very high. My massage therapist was very nice though.

I asked for light pressure, just a massage to relax. The pressure was too hard and hurt at times. I actually woke up this morning with aches and pains that I didn’t have prior. I’ve received many massages before and never had pain the next day. Also, the aroma therapy was given at the last 10 minutes. I feel that paying $10 for that is just not worth it. The receptionist led me to believe that the aroma therapy is throughout the entire massage. So either she was incorrect, or the massage therapist didn’t do it until the end. Also there was way too much focus on my back. I wasn’t asked to flip over until the last 10 minutes when I received my aroma therapy finally. The massage therapist never once asked how the pressure was.

This was not due to the staff in any way! There was a sewer back up and the session was cut short abruptly.
