Needs a makeover

The " new deposit hold policy " we were told at check in was new and was not explained previous to our stay, like at reservation. then was unable to check out until staff checked our room to make sure no damages. Had to wait a little while, when normally we are told we can just leave our keys in room upon leaving for good Never had that experience at any hotel, which led me to wonder if this is to all guest or were we targeted for some reason. It might be a good suggestion to notify guests of new policies in the beginning to avoid feeling like it was a random discrimination
