Just needed it to be firmer which I think I indicated on my forms but should have voiced it too so partly my doing. I was satisfied with my service.

Every time they have a new receptionist they can’t find me on the computer because I got my membership thru crossroads spa. Kirkland spa is 3 blocks from my house. To go to crossroads it takes me 30 mins. Why can’t they transfer my membership to Kirkland. I’m really getting tired of them not able to find me. It takes more time checking out and puts me in an uncomfortable situation.

Hot stone massage was supposedly complimentary as a bonus when I became a member, but receptionist did not know this and wanted to charge me additional money

They asked if I could come in early. I said yes, but had to wait 20 mins after I checked in

I was satisfied, but I didn't have to check in in person so I couldn't answer that question. I called and they texted me to come in.

I have had several therapits at this location and this only describes my last experience with Jonathan. His very first contact--his very beginning move to begin the massage was jolting--it felt very clumsy, rushed, nervous, way too fast, too forceful, too abrupt--the very opposite of relaxing. I did give feedback to be less forceful. I didn't know how else to give direction. As it progressed just felt like he was randomly guessing--it did not seem like the way that he was touching/moving was guided by any knowledge or training. It did not feel like intelligent touch. It seemed like he was very not-tuned into the way his own body and energy. It seemed difficult for him to remember to be less forceful and then on parts when I said he could be more forceful he still did not really do it with more force. It was tiring to try to keep giving feedback the whole time so I gave up by the end. It just was disappointing and felt like a waste and time and money and not a good use of the value of my membership.

I've always had good experiences at this location; and this visit was good. The reason I was not highly satisfied is due to how my massage therapist worked with my body. I had mentioned to focus on the neck shoulders and some small portion on other parts of my body. I specifically told him to either not work on my hands & fingers, or I said to be gentle with them as they hurt with arthritis. He did great on the main body -- just enough pressure to work out some knots without hurting too much.... Yet he used too much pressure/manipulation on my hands. I have more pain now in my left hand/thumb area than ever before plus joint clicking that I never had. And this is nearly a week later. I did use comments or pain words ("Ouch", "softer") to indicate it hurt, but I guess I should have said more. Plus I twitched in some other areas repeatedly and I don't think he read "my reactions." He was very friendly and listened to me at the beginning of our session and throughout. I appreciated that greatly. Yet the work-up, especially on the hands was bad. I have also learned that I need to speak up when I am on the table and it hurts. That is an important lesson for me too.

It wasn't the first time my partner and I went to this Hand and Stone location. We hadn't experienced any issues prior to our recent visit that we would consider out of the ordinary. Both of our appointments went well, but we felt a little uncomfortable with our receptionist. My partner and I are students, we can't afford buying a membership, and we scheduled our appointments because we received gift cards for any massage, disregarding monetary value. However, the receptionist asked us multiple times if we wanted to sign up for a membership and we felt pressed. Upon paying, we found that our gift cards didn't cover our deep tissue massages and had a large withstanding balance. On top of a non-member fee that we had never received before, leaving us $140 over. As a solution, the receptionist thought if we signed up for a membership, we would be "saving money" in this instance. Considering that we had received our massages as gifts, understanding that it would cover any massage, we were dumbfounded at the remaining total. To my knowledge, we were never charged a non-member fee, and we both wouldn't have picked our massage type if we knew it would be so expensive.

The front doors are very hard to open and heavy. We should have a choice of different massage lotions and oils. Also the people in hallways should only whisper or go into waiting area to talk. How about a choice of music in the rooms?
