Hand and Stone

The facial was great. The massage was not so great, the massage therapist was weirdly out of breath the whole time and coughing and sniffling, seemed like she might have had a cold. Her technique wasn’t that great, I asked for work on my lower back and glutes and she spent hardly any time there.

Sue was really great, friendly pressure was perfect.

Location is not convenient because I live in Boston. I had a nice experience but not enough to make the 30 minute drive.

Even though I got there on time, the massage didn’t start until 10 minutes late, and then ended right on time. The massage should be 50 minutes and if the therapist can’t make it start on time they should add time on the end. The same happened to my husband. Quality of the massage was great but if people arrive early they should be let in early and start in time.

Everything was fine and I was satisfied with the appointment. For me, the rating of "Highly Satisfied" corresponds with service that goes above and beyond. The introductory cost is reasonable but the cost after the initial appointment jumps up by $30 and - in my opinion- is not reasonable. The introductory price was what got me in the door but I will not be returning to pay $100+ for a facial.

I added hot stones to my massage. The massage therapist was not aware of this, not sure if I was the one who was supposed to tell him. I told him about halfway through the massage and he went and got them.

I didn't like that my appointment was rescheduled by the studio less than an hour before the original time bit I was happy that they were able to see me the same day. I didn't like that the receptionist and the massage tired to sell me more services.

The only reason I wasn't highly satisfied is that during the massage I got a lot of oil in my hair and that felt kind of gross.

Luke was really friendly and the massage was decent. A little feedback - he did not ask me about pressure, and my asking would have felt awkward. I had mentioned tension in my neck/shoulders/back but did not feel the kinks were worked out. Room was chiily ! One of my add ons didn't really get added on. A bit pricy for the quality and time spent. Luke had a great attitude.

I was highly satisfied with the massage therapist, it had nothing to do with her. I was gifted 2 visits from my niece and on my way out the receptionist informed me there was a "transfer fee" of $10. I talked to someone the following day to ask if there would be a transfer fee again, for my next visit and she said there would be. I am confused because my niece also gifted my sister 2 visits and she went today and told me they did not charge her a transfer fee. If this is a policy of Hand and Stone, shouldn't it be required, no matter what location someone goes to? I am trying to look into this to understand transfer fees and why one location would charge and another one not.
