The Pacific Beach Big O Tire put a LARGE dent the drive shaft of my van, requiring a costly replacement. It happened while trying to put the van in their lift for an oil change. There was also severe muffler damage, located directly adjacent to the damage on the drive shaft. Most upsetting, they did not disclose any of the damage they caused and allowed me to drive away in an incredibly unsafe vehicle. Please do not waste your time or money with this location. I want to be clear, I've had a lot of success with other Big O Tire locations. Big O is a franchise corporation and the Pacific Beach location is an example of a franchise location gone bad. They're unskilled and unwilling to admit it. Save your money and, most importantly, stay safe by completely avoiding the PB Big O Tire.

I was getting my own set of custom tires placed on my car and they charged an extra $60 because it would take an extra 30 minutes to force the removal since I didn't have my tire lock tool. I spoke with friends who are in the industry and said that charge was ridiculously high as it takes maybe an extra 5-10 minutes at most. Also, the guy originally told me that he would place generic lug nuts on the tires to replace the locks but when I went to pick up my car, he was gone and the guy at the front told me he didn't have any on stock so they didn't place anything on it. This is on top of them telling me that Nitrogen was required but when I had them speak to my fiance who knew it wasn't they removed the charge. I think you are running a shady business and trying to take advantage of people that don't know much about the industry which is really disappointing.

They said they would fix my problem and I payed them the money. I drove off and right away my wheel started shacking at 45. Awful service and won't refund the money. I don't recommend them at all.

On Friday April 27th, 2018 I went into Big-O seeking the following 2 services: 1) 4 replacement tires and 2) wheel repair to address some "curb rash" that had occurred over the years. My car is a 1998 Mercedes SL600. The previous owner had fitted tires which did not fit the car properly and I asked Jesus who greeted me, to ensure that we had a size that would properly "fill out" the wheel well. Since I don't know the first thing about tire sizes, I deferred to him and he recommended a Sumitomo tire which would do just this. He was adamant that these would be the best value and would sit properly on the car. I deferred to his expertise and agreed. On the rims Jesus said that Big-O doesn't do that on site, but said he had a sub-contractor who could do the work. I asked if he'd used the sub-contractor before, and he adamantly said he would vouch for them and the quality of their work. Again, I deferred to his expertise and agreed. As this was Friday, he told me to expect the car to be ready Monday or Tuesday of the following week, and I left the car at the shop. On Tuesday Jesus called me and said there had been a delay with the work on the rims and he had not received them back. I told him that was fine, and that they could take their time to ensure they did a good job, and he assured me that they would. On Wednesday I received another call from Big-O and spoke to Jesus who informed me the car was ready to be picked up, and I said I would be in that afternoon. When I arrived at Big-O I immediately recognized that the tires fitted were not what I expected: they were visually clearly too small for the wheel well. When we walked out onto the lot, it was clear that Jesus was hoping I would find them acceptable, but he could tell they didn't fit. I voiced my concern, recalling our conversation that he'd said they would look better and he reluctantly agreed. Later, Jesus admitted that he had not seen the car since the rims had arrived and the tires fitted, which for me explained his reaction. We then continued to walk around the car, and we both immediately recognized new damage to the rims: there were clear grinder impressions where the workman had apparently slipped and caused damage to the rim. The recessed portion of the rim is a sort of smoked grey finish, and that was where the most obvious damage had been done. Jesus recognized this new damage, and even tried to rub it out with a bit of spit shine, to no avail. At that point, I was exasperated: already a day past due and in the late afternoon, Jesus quickly offered to fit tires that would match the car properly on the front, and a small discount for the damage. I knew this was not enough to be made whole, but I simply wanted a speedy resolution so I accepted. I was told to return in an hour. When I returned in the late afternoon, I noticed more damage to the rims, and now the tires were mismatched and looked just as bad as before. I decided I would try to cut my losses and not spend anymore time on this and so paid the bill planning to simply have the work done elsewhere. Immediately on accelerating, I noticed the car was shaking (found out the balancing hadn't been done, as Jesus admitted) and the alignment was causing the car to pull to the right. Since the car was completely undrivable in that state, I had no choice but to go back the next day. After leaving it, Jesus told me they'd "missed" the balance and that the alignment was done but because the car had "loose bearings" it was pulling. It wasn't pulling when I brought it in, and loose bearings wouldn't cause a consistent pull to one side. When I highlighted how ridiculous that answer was, Jesus agreed, but said the alignment was done so I again left. Sure enough, the alignment was exactly the same, and again Jesus said to bring the car in. Finally I returned and simply asked what I am now asking for: a refund and for me to return the tires. Jesus first informed me I would need to speak with you, and when I asked for you

Informed them that I think I needed a new battery as my car was having trouble cranking and was having mixed electrical signals in the car. As I purchased my last battery from big-o-tires I knew my battery couldn't have been defective yet so I went back to replace through the warranty. They did not bother to check the voltage of my old battery to actually see if that was the issue, instead they just replaced it (and while they replaced it they blew a fuse and had to replace it and all my dashboard settings were reset). After replacing the battery with a said "new" battery the car continued to have start up issues, and they still charged me for the said "labor". Took my car to the actual manufacturer and was informed I was given a battery with very weak output voltage and given a new battery by them, and suddenly no more cranking or electrical issues. I am no mechanic but it looked like there was multiple people working on my car at Big o tires to replace a battery! So in the end I paid for labor for absolutely no reason and now have a useless battery given to me by big o tires.

The owner is a great guy and I was a loyal customer for about a year and half but one visit ruined it all and it was bad enough to say "no excuses I'm done." The owner had nothing to do with this bad experience except for the fact that he left his store with a bad employee. I brought my vehicle in because one of the tires had a nail in it. He had the guys look at it, he looked at me and said it needs to be replaced. I said ok, he looked up a tire and gave me a quote. I said is it the same as the tires on there. He said to me (this is where I was concerned) none of the tires on your vehicle match, you have three different brands of tire. I said "no all four are the same brand purchased and installed at this store." He went back out to the car, looked around and said "you are right they are all the same, but (this is where I lost my mind) you didn't get them here we don't sell that brand." HEAD EXPLODES. I went straight to my glove box, pulled out the receipt and showed it to him. He was busted (not my intention) and began to back track with such quotes as "I'm sorry it was close to closing we wanted to get out of here," "our computer system is new and doesn't have this old information," and other things I shut out because I was ready to cut my losses and leave. He did look up the tire, ordered it and my wife returned a few days later to get it put on. Done. I feel bad for the store but this was unexceptable and we have found a better place with incredibly consistent service. I didn't want to write this but Big O sent me the survey to comment on my last visit.

I recently brought in my vehicle to have a tire patched. I have been a faithful Big O tire customer and wanted to get a tire rotation with my Big O warranty. When I asked the store manager Shaun if I could also get my tires aligned he responded "it depends on the mood of the person you're asking". I had an appointment scheduled from the day before and specifically went to Big O from my past experiences and warranty but have never heard that response from a customers service representative. Definitely wont be returning.

I took my car in on a Saturday morning for an oil change thinking it would be done max 2 hours (it didn't seem busy as I was one of the first ones there). I receive a call 3 hours later as they FINALLY evaluated my car and gave me their recommendations to get new tires, a new air filter & do a brake fluid service. They give me an estimate which seemed reasonable so I said go for it. I then receive another call an hour before they close saying they can't release my car today because the caliper bleeders broke off during the brake fluid exchange due to rust on the car. I felt as if the company should pay for this since technically THEY broke it. They blame it on the rust, but shouldn't they NOTICE how rusty it is & STOP what they're doing before they break them off? I felt if they knew the rust caused it to break, why would they proceed any further? They are closed Sundays so I didn't end up getting my car back until Monday evening. It was just a big inconvenience all around. My $40 oil change turned into a $1,000 visit with $400 of that being from new parts I didn't break, being car-less for 3 days & expensive Uber rides for 3 days. I asked to keep the part they broke, & they told me on the phone I could. Then when I went in I asked for the part & he said I would have to pay for the piece from my own car! After I just paid for the new parts. It doesn't make sense to me how this happened. I didn't have a good experience here. Poor customer service, poor communication, I felt like I was mistreated and scammed for my money.

I found this place on google. They have a discount for San Doego residents. When I called in, the person I talked to over the phone, the same that serviced me when I got there, told me that the synthetic oil would be about $48 USD plus taxes and without the discount for SD residents. I ended up paying $61 USD with the discount for the same service. It was definitely a rip off and would not recommed anyone to go to this place. There's oil changes done way more cheaper than this one and without someone telling you lies to get you there.
