We really enjoyed staying at Galveston Island.

Love Galveston! The Hilton property we stayed at didn't even come close to living up to the Hilton name. The service was pretty bad, considering how much we spent. We were told that the bottom floor pool view was the only room available, but we checked availability online. We could have easily upgraded. Sadly, we were told by the property itself we couldn't. The entire island is basically run by Landry's. Which I have mixed feelings about. They have invested a lot, but to the exclusion of a lot of variety. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the gulf coast, but I'm thinking we will move east down the shoreline for our beach entertainment. Galveston seems to be the opposite: a great place to live, but I'm not sure I'd want to visit.

I like that its clean and they have done a lot. It is too expensive! The food is highly priced! I can go to fine dining and pay the same price for my meal!!!

Good- hate that the beaches are so yucky but it was good for a weekend getaway
