I love the beach! We come here as often as we can. 1-2 times a year. We stayed at the Four Points and had an overall good experience here. A few minor complaints, but nothing worth getting in a twist over. We tried some local restaurants, but found the service and food quality, was either equal or lacking to a chain restaurant. Not once did we think any meal was particularly special. But we don't come here for the food. During our stay, the whole "fecal bacteria" story had spread like wildfire on Facebook, due to the irresponsible news reports from KHOU. I'm puzzled as to why they would do that. We found the beaches to be pleasant, and was informed by officials that they were indeed clean. But the story did affect us somewhat. But not enough to never return. I would imagine every municipality has a body of water fraught with gossip and urban myth. For us in North Texas, it's been the Trinity River. I've fished, boated and swam in those rivers and lakes for years, and still haven't grown a 6th toe, or caught a 3-eyed fish. All this to say, we feel lucky to have a ocean just a few hours drive away, where it feels like another world. We continue to support Galveston and its beaches. And hope to return again very soon. My wife and I may retire here someday!

We had a great time overall. We stayed at the Red Roof Inn which was pretty terrible. We had to ask for extra towels multiple times before we got them. The shower nozzle was broken and fell off every time you turned it. Our hotel accommodations say we paid for 2 queen size beds and the beds were clearly full size. Will never stay at this hotel again. But the beach was great, the lifeguards were friendly and helpful. We took the duck tour and our tour guide was hilarious. We went down to the strand and loved LaKings and Jamaica me Crazy. We got to see the Juneteenth parade and the fireworks. That was awesome. We loved pleasure pier. The lines were never long and we rode most rides several times. Everyone that worked there was great. Our favorite local restaurant was Fish Tales and it was amazing. Overall a good vacation.

Went to pleasure pier for a field trip. I have a ton of ideas to help the staff run a smoother operation for field trips.
