la Madeleine

My wife and I visit this Madeleine frequently tor lunch or evening snacks and coffee. I ordered a Napoleon pastry that I in my opinion the crust was stale, because when I tried to share it with my wife the crust disintegrated. Impossible to cut it with a knife or fork. I had order the napoleon pastry before in other visits and was fresh and tasted great. The coffee was cold out of the coffee maker and I have to have it reheated. My wife ordered a glass of wine with a salad. She was happy with her order.

Everything was great, but you have to understand, I'm a normal sized man, 6' tall 170lbs. I ordered the omelette with three ingredients. It was NOT enough food. I mean, eggs cost 20cents each in bulk. Can't you throw three more eggs in there and charge me an extra dollar? Then I can leave full. I felt like I had to order two omelettes.

The quitche florentina was not, completely cooked. The chicken Cesar sandwich. . Taste completely different. This time wasn't very good food, the taste. Wasn't the same.

You've spent a great deal of time, energy & money making La Madeleine a warm, comfortable experience. The atmosphere is so well done, it's believable, not so Disneyish that we feel a bit fooled or silly. My complaint is that this atmosphere has (over the years) been somewhat ruined by tacky cheap plastic flowers & fake greenery, additions obviously chosen by the local manager/owner (or his wife). Now you've made it utterly uncomfortable by changing the lights out to a blue, cold, grey color. This restaurant reminds one of a prison or some other oppressive industrial setting. It's no longer a pretty, relaxing experience because of the lighting. Really. Come look if you don't believe me.

I've come here for years and I like this location a lot. This morning I had the custom omelette with mushrooms, sausage, and swiss. I'm an average sized guy, 6', 170lbs, but the portion size did not fill me. I could have used 2-3 more eggs in this omelette. With coffee I was out the door for $16 but still hungry.

The quiche florentine had no seasoning. Bland taste. The avocado toast was underwhelming and overpriced.

My husband's soup and salad was good. However, for the price of avacado toast, it was very disappointing.

I got 1/2 cup of hot water for my tea. I asked for more hot water and the cup was returned still 1/2 full. $3.29 for 1/2 cup of tea seems a bit high. ( I asked the bus lady for more hot water and she got it for me.) Suggestion: Manager too involved doing preparation work when he should be managing. No one serving bread.
