Enclosures are nice but the glare that is on the windows makes it very hard to seethe animals.

I love the Rio Grande Zoo. I feel like you really get up close to almost all of the animals (with the exception if the elephants, which is disappointing). We have visited twice from out of town, or kids playing to come back the second time. both visits were well worth it.
